Gathering Diary, 2004

Here it is, long and rambling...Collapse )

First things first

Hey gang, I know you're all keen to read my Gathering Diary.

Unfortunately I'm going to keep you waiting for a bit - I received bad news this weekend. My uncle - my father's brother - died of a massive heart attack. He was 56. He had pretty much ignored his health, unfortunately, since his wife passed away from generalized cancer about ten years ago. He had been in and out of hospitals for the past few years with a variety of ailments, most of the coronary or diabetic. It was sudden, but not surprising, that he died.

He introduced me to science fiction. He brought me to my first movie ever - Snow White - when I was five. He had a wickedly keen sense of sarcastic humour. He will be missed.

Goodbye Uncle Doug. Love ya.

A very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my darling Autumn.

Many long years have passed behind us - half our lives, luv - and closer and farther we have grown, but your presence in my life is always, always important and appreciated.

May your every joy be three-fold, and may any sorrows in the year ahead be short-lived and a light burden to bear.

Older, Younger, Twin... always.

Happy Father's Day, Dad

To my Dad, who read to me The Hobbit, and never finished, thus forcing me to read it myself, and subsequently playing a major part in the geek I am today.

Thanks Dad. Love ya.
