Back. Not dead. Mildly embarrassed, but once again legendary for an entirely different reason involving a fence. Met many interesting individuals and reconnected with myself. Surprised by how much I've changed in the past three years. Witnessed a beautiful handfasting. Didn't rain, but it was COLD at night.

Sorry, Beltaine was yesterday, but I was out of town, up North in the woods, hanging with some friends and generally relaxing. Oh yeah, and we had a ritual. Pretty cool, and a lot of fun. At one point I was really struck by the... visual accuracy of the moment... a bunch of folks all dressed in black walking around in the woods in the rain... "Well, don't we look like a bunch of pagans," I said.

All in all a wonderfully relaxing weekend!

Today is the Spring Equinox, also called Ostara, the celebration of the first true day of Spring. Days and nights are equal, and generally speaking it is the time of the birth of the Male Aspect of the Divine in his aspect of the Sun Child - the world awakens, life begins to grow anew and energy is rising.

In Montreal, it's a grey, drizzly day. A typical Spring day in fact. Yesterday, on the last day of Winter, it snowed, big puffy flakes, as though the Old Man was saying, it may be my last Official Day, but I'm still here... you ain't rid of me.

But the days are getting longer. The world is awakening. Life is returning. The city is born anew. You can feel it.

So, celebrate! Spring is here, all weather to the contrary! Soon there will be green grass and miniskirts! And the SUN!

Imbolc, also known as Candlemas, is the celebration of the threshold between Winter and Spring, and was marked by the first lactation of ewes, "the flow of milk that heralds the return of the life-giving forces of spring." Candles are lit in honour of Brigid, the Lightbringer.

So, I light candles, and I have a drink of milk, and know that the days are growing longer and Spring is coming soon...

There's been something I've been meaning to say...

Something that some of you know, and some of your suspect, and some of you have no idea. The ones who know won't be surprised, the ones who suspect will have their suspicions confirmed. The ones who have no idea, well, some of you will say, big deal, and some of you will say, Oh really? and some of you may be ... perturbed? Offended? I dunno.

Bear in mind I'm not saying this because I want to perturb or offend. This is just something I want to say and get off my chest and be up front and out in the open and all that.
